This diploma thesis focuses on the issue of old ecological loads after crude oil and natural gas extraction in Hodonín area. Selected municipality Lužice and its cadastral territory are examined in terms of natural conditions. Currently discussed ecological loads in this area are analysed. Questionnaire survey shows residents attitude towards these ecological loads. Questionnaire survey also aims to suggest recommendation to increase awareness of this issue. Opening theoretical part analyses the issue, explains fundamental terms, focuses on current situation of old ecological loads in Czech republic and their liquidation, deals with legislation related to this topic as well.

Rekultivace krajiny po těžbě nerostných surovin na území ČR

Těžba nerostných surovin představuje, společně s dalšími antropogenními aktivitami, jeden z nejzásadnějších zásahů do krajiny. Těžební činností dochází často ke zničení či poškození hodnotných stanovišť a geologických lokalit, ale také ke vzniku nových stanovišť a biotopů, jejichž vznik úzce souvisí nejen se samotnou těžební činností, ale také s následnou rekultivací a revitalizací krajiny.

Specific water properties of pit lakes in the Czech Republic

Anthropogenic lakes constitute a significant part of the Czech countryside water component which has not been given sufficient attention so far. The presented thesis deals with the assessment of variability of physico-chemical properties of water in 30 selected pit lakes in order to identify specific features associated with quarrying of different mineral raw materials, basin morphometry and trophic level of the lakes affecting the quality of accumulated water. In the second part of the thesis the author deals with the comprehensive limnological study of the Hromnické Lake with extreme water chemism resulting from excavation of pyritic shales and focuses on the phenomenon of meromixis especially. The results are based on the evaluation of physical properties of water in the lake vertical profile (temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH, transparency and colour) and chemical analyzes of water samples collected from the surface and bottom of the lakes during the four seasons in 2003-07 (determination of Ca, Mg, Na, K, Nammon., NO3 - , SO4 2- , Cl- and alkalinity), including determination of chlorophyll-a. Přímé zahraniční investice do těžebního průmyslu v Africe

The goal of this diploma thesis is to analyse the trend of foreign direct investment into mining industry in Africa. In this thesis, I focus solemnly on the extraction of minerals, excluding the oil and gas industry. The analysis looks at the FDI from a historical perspective in the new millennium up to the current situation, which is characteristic for low commodity prices, which subsequently depress the activities of mining corporations. Furthermore, the important part of the thesis is also the projection of future development of FDI, the analysis of the correlation between commodity prices and FDI development and the research of African investment environment. A brief case study regarding the real-life foreign direct investment into copper mining projects in Democratic Republic of the Congo is carried out in the end of this thesis. In this case study I present details about this project, however, also the professional opinion of co-head of mining division at Trafigura, Emmanuel Henry, on the investment environment in Africa in regard to the mining industry and his feelings about the future development of the investment.

Present geological and environmental conditions of the interesting old mining localities in Železný Brod and Semily region

The bachelor work evaluates natural, geological, landscape and ecological aspects of selected geological localities in Železný Brod and Semily region which were affected by raw material mining in the past while consequences of the mining activity are evident in the presence. The assessment of the current situation and possible solutions was done in terms of protection of nature and landscape, respectively education, training and awareness which results in the proposed management measures on the sites taking into account the occurrences of interesting rocks, eventually other geological phenomena, rare and endangered animals and others. Field work was carried out on the basis of archival research in geology and other institutions, which was focused on the search for the available geological maps, geological surveys, reports and other relevant sources and others.
